Beautiful, but limited control

Browsing users and contacting them is a breeze and aesthetically beautiful, well done.

But Ive had some issues:
-when I get an alert on my home screen for a new message, when I open the app, there is no icon over my inbox that indicates that I have a new message - like a little orange bubble with a 1 in it, for example. So when I open the app, Im not sure if I actually have anything in my inbox to check out or not.
- this has happened TWICE now: when I click on the text box at the end of a message thread to reply, SOMEHOW the app declines that persons surfing request EVEN IF IVE ALREADY ACCEPTED IT. So I can accept, but then change my mind to decline (even if thats not what I clicked and didnt even see it as an option to select on that part of the page), but not the other way around..? Come on.

I know couchsurfing recently did a major overhaul and things are looking great! These are small things, but they significantly impact the things users regularly do and how they build relationships. Hopefully they are easy and will be speedy to correct.
